Kathryn and Jason don't expect to find feelings for each other, but since they are thrown together at the same boarding house and eat together every day at Evangeline's, things sort of naturally go that way.
Of course they fight it all the way. Kathryn just wants to make enough money to return home to San Francisco and Jason just wants her to go so he doesn't have to see her. I love that some of the characters are actually real people who started Seattle and the bullet through the braid scene was quite humorous. I'm hoping for more Seattle Brides books but I haven't seen any news on the matter, so I guess I will have to wait and hope The second book was as good if not better than the first. We get to see some old friends from the first book and meet some new ones. This story contained a wonderful romance, some tension not only between the two main characters but for the young town of Seattle.
The authors did a great job throwing some surprises into the story that made it interesting and very touching. Initially I struggled with Kathryn and wanted to slap her more than once. But as the story developed and she came to terms wit The second book was as good if not better than the first. But as the story developed and she came to terms with her life in Seattle I came to love her.
My heart broke from almost the beginning for Jason. It was also fun to see the Hughes and Denny families as well as Red Dog and the other lumberjacks. When I read a story I look for what lessons I can learn from it, this one has several. Kathryn reminds us to be content where we are and not to be too proud. I would like to thank the authors and their publisher, Harvest House, for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Wish I had some now. I hope for more books in this series soon! Four years has passed since the first book in the series A Bride for Noah, and Seattle has built up some and is under some attacks from Indians. Kathryn is arrogant, rude, and overbearing as the story begins, and the hero, Jason is the usual sweetheart of a hero for romance novels.
He has some secrets, and works hard whereas Kathryn believes herself above her circumstances and is determined to be difficult. I couldn't connect with her at all, and I wondered what on earth Jason saw in her. In Copeland's and Smith's trademark style, the setting of pioneer days Seattle came to life. I could feel the soggy, rainy weather, and see the mud. Even the rooms were beautifully described down to the supply closet Kathryn was given as a room.

Kathryn is ready to give her Father an earful just a short time after her arrival. She does not at all like Seattle. In exchange she will live in the Faulkner Hotel which Madame Gariston owns. Kathryn is only given a tiny closet and a Cot in exchange for her work and is not paid beyond that.
Soon Kathryn meets Jason the only other artist she has met in town but he seems to do nothing but belittle hee art but it is sadness that makes him this way she learns because of the loss of his wife. Will Kathryn find happiness here or will she continue to be miserable. I give this book five out of five Stars. Jun 28, Debbie Ballard rated it it was amazing. Kathryn is forced by her father to come to Seattle, find a husband, and work for her cousin. Jason comes to Seattle to work as a manager at the sawmill and to escape the memories of the death of his wife and still born son.
Kathryn wants to go back home, doesn't want to find a husband, and is I loved and enjoyed reading the romantic, inspirational, historical fiction, Rainey Day Dreams Seattle Brides Book 2 by Lori Copeland and Virginia Smith that I received free through Goodreads First Reads. Kathryn wants to go back home, doesn't want to find a husband, and is scared of the rumors of an Indian attack. As Jason and Kathryn keep running into each other, neither one can help having feelings toward each other.
The townspeople build a fort and pray and hope to stop the Indians.

It is one of the best historical novels I have read! So many fascinating historical events were introduced.
We are keeping this series for our homeschool States of the United States unit on Washington state. The characters were wonderful, and I agree with a previous reviewer about the twin aspect, although I am not a twin myself I do have twin grandchildren; When I first looked at this book, I thought, "Oh, no! I was so enthralled with this book that I violated my rule about reading a series, because I couldn't wait for Bride of Noah to get here. I read the whole book in one day, because I could not put it down. Keep them coming, Virginia and Lori.

I love that it uses a setting of the s. A time when women should be married, and out of their father's hair. Kathryn finds out all too soon that this is what her father is hoping for when he sends her to help out a relative at a hotel. Kathryn is on a high horse - and needs to be knocked down! Everyone can see that. Yes this is a romance story - but you may be surprised I loved this book.
Yes this is a romance story - but you may be surprised by how little "romance" is involved. There is a lot to be learned from the characters in an enjoyably dusty setting. Now, I think I'm going to go back and read the first book in the series.
It seemed like a rather short time for the two main characters, and for a couple of the other characters, to fall in love. I was very excited to win this book in a giveaway here on Goodreads. Now to find the first book in this series. I was familiar with some of the places described in some of the scenes. I had fun trying to imagine what they used to look like without all the buildings. Jan 28, Heidi Robbins Heidi Reads Boy did I have a hard time getting into this book. In fact, I was never able to connect with the characters or care about the plot. I wasn't exactly sure what the point of the story was until well past the halfway point.
Kathryn is self-centered and entitled, while Jason is prejudiced and surly. There was never any chemistry between the two. The best characters in the story are Evie and Noah from the first book in the series.

I did enjoy the setting of a newly settled Seattle. Thank you to Harve Boy did I have a hard time getting into this book. Thank you to Harvest House Publishers for an e-copy of the book in exchange for my honest review Feb 03, Jennifer Moore rated it it was amazing Shelves: I really enjoyed this, especially the historical aspects. I overlooked the tiny spot on the spine that said this was book 2 the cover and title pages did not say that and until I read the authors' note at the end I didn't realize it was book 2.

So it is not necessary to read book 1 first; however, the hints of there being a love story behind Noah and Evie would have not seemed so disappointing since you would already know their story if you had book 1 first. Instead Kathryn is good with people and making them happy. The people of the town love her and accept her all but one man.
All is resolved at the end.

I was well into the 3rd or 4th chapter before I remembered the first book. I was so surprised when a twin showed up. I still can't figure out why Helen was staying in her room so much. Lori Copeland was born on 12 June She had a relatively late start in writing, breaking into publishing in when she was already forty years old. She has been inducted into the Missouri Writers Hall of Fame.
Despite her success in more mainstream romantic fiction, in , she decided to switch focus. Her subsequent books have been in the relatively new subgenre of Christian romance. Lori and her husband of over forty years, Lance, live in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by the beautiful Ozarks.
